The Kangaroo Island Development Board (KIDB) is an incorporated association pursuant to the Associations Incorporation Act, 1985.

The KIDB was formed in 1993, and is one of fourteen Regional Development Boards funded jointly by the State and Local Government, which acts as the primary vehicle for regional economic development on Kangaroo Island.

Whilst the State and Local government contribute substantial resources, the KIDB is an independent and autonomous body operating as an Incorporated Association under the Associations Act. The KIDB was incorporated in 1993.

The KIDB continues to promote its role in business development and growth, investment attraction and employment programs in close partnership with Island and mainland agencies.

It provides an important link between local businesses, community groups and the many State and Federal assistance programs designed to assist local business and regional communities.

Pursuant to a five year Resource Agreement the core operations of the Board are funded by the Office of Regional Affairs and the Kangaroo Island Council each of whom have strong commitments to economic development within the region.

The KIDB responds to the needs of the business community investment enquiries and has direct involvement in employment creation and development through programs funded through the South Australia Works in the Regions.

These programs recognise that the community includes a range of individuals with different aspirations and needs. Therefore, these programs are uniquely designed to respond to the local conditions.

Our current core funding agreement ensures the Board’s role will continue to support economic and employment growth for Kangaroo Island until 30 June 2008.
